Biomedical Engineer Assessment Pathway

Hi guys, I'm wanting to ask about my partner's certification. She's got a UK undergrad in biomedical material science and is finishing up her PhD, also in the UK, in biomedical engineering.

She wants to get a skilled migration visa and needs to get accredited by The Instutition of Engineers Australia and would like to know which of the 3 assessment pathways she should choose for getting her qualifications recognised down under.

There's the Washington Accord, Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord.

Any biomedical enginners on here with some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers for the suggestion. We read over it but are still a little confused as the UK is a signatory body for each accord and we 're still having a bit of difficulty trying to decypher it. Are there any other guidance sites that provide a bit more clarity?

As we 're reading it, having also looked at the International Engineering Alliance website, we still can't tell for sure if it should be the Dublin or the Washington Accord. Both seem equally valid. Could this be the case? Can there be more than one valid option?

Sorry if we 're coming off as a bit dense, but we 're mindful of the fact that once you start the application with one of the accords, you can't change it afterwards.

For overseas qualifications there are two pathways

• one deals with undergraduate Professional Engineering

programs. This is known as the Washington Accord.

• and the other deals with Engineering Technologist

programs. This is known as the Sydney Accord.

The Dublin Accord is an agreement for the international recognition of Engineering Technician qualifications.
