Does he need to apply for that first before booking a flight or doesnt it matter ? Does he have to book a return ticket? or just a 1 way ticket for now? Guest Posted November 14, 2016 Share Posted November 14, 2016 I'd get the visa first to be on the safe side. It should only take a few days at most to be granted. Then he can book his flights to fit in. He doesn't have to book a return. However, he would be wise to have funds and proof of funds to satisfy immigration that he can leave Aus at the end of his WHV if he does not have a return ticket. They advise $5,000 or so funds to have if coming over on a WHV. I think its important he has money to see him through as it it does go fast and work isn't always easy to find.
