harryman100
The large pile of stuff ready to load into the movecube is growing, and we've calculated the value of everything to sort out insurance for the stuff that's being shipped - but what do people normally do about insurance cover for the stuff they're carrying on the flight - as our belongings will contain lots of camera equipment, a pricey bike, several laptops, phones, tablets, and a fair quantity of clothing we expect it will actually be worth more than the value of the stuff we're shipping - will normal travel insurance cover this? Thanks,
rammygirl
You need one way migration insurance. And the cover amounts are not high! I discussed this with a broker saying that people migrating are advised not to ship valuable jewellery so with that and IT stuff etc most will be over the limits covered. Doubt anything has changed though. just keep your stuff close! Some migration cover also covers you for a few days after arrival until you can sort yourself out too. Just Google migration insurance. Standard UK policies will not be valid nor will any attached to banks as you will not be returning to a UK address.
Guest
One way travel insurance as ordinary holiday insurance won't cover it as you need to be returning and obviously you won't be. We used STA for our one way insurance for illness and belongings. We've used them for about 15 years now for our travel insurance and have never had an issue with them when needing to claim. Only thing with one way travel insurance was one of us needed to into a shop in person to take the policy out. They don't do it online, or at least they didn't when we used it a few years ago.
