drstu
Hi All, We've had a few estimates/quotes which are all similar for sole use of a 20'. What additional charges did you all have which was on top of the original estimate/quote? We've read a lot about breakages - did everyone experience some breakages? 3 months and counting! With best wishes, Stu
Bungo
No extra charges. Yes expect some breakages, a few hundred dollars / pounds or so.
srg73
Insure against breakages and total loss. We lost absolutely nothing and our shipping ncluded some very fragile items. Take your Removalists advice regarding banned items as you may incure customs charges if they need to open up and examine your contents. Finally you may want to negotiate free storage AU side to give you a change to get settled before your contents tun up. S
Guest
If you take out insurance get an independant insurance, not the shipping companies own. You may well incur fees at customs check.
Patphillips47
It cost us $ 370 and $ 340 fees for disembarking and customs didn't rally read the fine print on the quote which stated these were separate Then it cost us $ 870 to steam clean our car as AQUIS knocked it back first time Thing is they also knocked it back scone time after it was cleaned !!!! It was cleaned again ( at no charge may I add ) and finally got through but the car was actually in Adelaide over a month before we had it on the road
M1cha3la
Our custom fees came to around $480 I definitley agree with a PP about getting independant shipping insurance. We took out insurance with the shippers as they said the claims process ect would be easier/less hassle, its not haha. You can get far better cover cheaper with an independant. We have been unlucky and had some big damages, none of the small fragile stuff got broke, but big things like a dent in the fridge door and so on. The fragile stuff gets really well wrapped, just make sure they double wrap your big things too :cute: Edited August 28, 2016 by M1cha3la

rammygirl
We used Letton Percival. Needed to claim too, was very easy and money in our account promptly. expect to pay customs and AQIS fees of around $350, more if shipping a car in the same container. Check on any free storage offered as it can be useful. Ask about shipping schedules in detail, we paid a bit more for a faster route. Oh and read the small print. Delivery will most likely be to metro area, standard access and max two storey, anything else will incur additional charges. We had to pay more because of a long driveway! ( to be fair it took them longer as it was too narrow for the truck and they had to wheel everything).

With best wishes, Stu Used LETTON PERCIVAL INSURERS , very good, ask any removals firm quoting to show any extra charges likely over and above those quoted in their estimate confirm back to them that you accept quote on assumption there are none, altho I would not use someone who does not show all their charges for getting your goods from address to address, check how far from city center before they make extra charges for transport, because you may not know delivery address before you leave, specify export wrap for all furniture and white goods, make sure you confirm a anything verbal in email to them Edited September 20, 2016 by BacktoDemocracy
