Imapla
Hi I am told the rabies anitbodies tests are done on a Tuesday - does it matter how old the blood sample is ie is there a limit to the number of days in between obtaining the sample and doing the test. My dog's was taken on 7th - received by the lab on 11th and the date of the report was the 17th - it was too low. What do you think?
Patphillips47
I wouldn't think the timing has anything to do with it as the blood test is supposed to be at least I think it's 20 days after the initial rabies vaccination Ralphy had his rabies vaccine 22nd spetmwber Blood sample was taken 20th October and recived 26th and report date was 29th Luckily his result was fine
BobPetairUK
Hi Impala I am sure the timings you mention make no difference at all - did you find out the actual level or did your vets just say "too low"? 1 out of 20 pets wont make enough antibodies first time around - that is a pretty normal amount. so although it is rare for them to fail, it is not unheard of. It is deffo not your fault, your dog's fault or your vet fault - just one of those annoying things Good luck second time around - for a pet to fail after 2 vaccines is super super rare.
