BobPetairUK
There has been much change over the last few months with regards taking your pets to Australia. At last, the only quarantine station available is a shiny new facility just north of Melbourne, so we have to fly all the pets into Melbourne and from there they can be transported to your final destination in Australia or you can collect them and fly them yourself or do an epic road trip, if you have time. With regards to routes, there are quite a few routes available with QANTAS, Emirates and Singapore Airlines. Each route has its advantages and disadvantages. Emirates and Singapore airlines transit in Dubai and Singapore respectively (some pets will like the break and other pets will hate being handled by strangers) and the QANTAS route stops in Dubai, but the pets stay on the aircraft and is the quickest and most direct route, but there is the $130 AUD out of hours fee as it lands out of regular collection hours for the quarantine staff. The basic rules for entry are still the same and the most important thing to note is the fact that the pets have to start their rabies vaccinations at least 7 months before they want to fly, so if you are considering flying your cats and dogs then you do need to start as early as possible to ensure there is no lengthy wait in UK before they can fly out. We have composed a handy guide on our website (https://www.petairuk.com/taking-pets-to-australia) to talk you through the rules and regulations, but always the best way is to call us and we can talk you through the process. Most UK pet shippers will have a facebook page where clients can directly post feedback, pics and news of their travel to Australia, so if you are worried about taking your pets then these are great places to look for honest feedback direct from the source. Best of luck and remember that it is better to start these things early than leave them too late. Happy New Year to you all.
