JockinTas
Another report is stating his death is a hoax. I like a lot of his music though not a great fan - will wait to see whether a hoax or not.

caramac
So very sad. His music was a huge part of my teenage years. I can't quite believe it.
flag of convenience
I seem to recall he suffered a heart attack several years back while performing in Germany. He quit the fags after that, being a lifetime heavy smoker. A creative genius. RIP.

Guest Guest66881
The man the legend, some here know of my deep passion for the Duke's work a great shock and will be greatly missed so many owe a career to this man. And remember we can all be heroes just for one day:wink:

bunbury61
Very sorry to hear this, not a huge fan but a massive influence. Seems to be very sudden especially at only 69! S Theres a short list of artists who have influenced music and the following generations ,and David Bowie was one of them . Whether you like him or not . It started with pre electric and electric blues ...then chuck beer and little Richard and a certain Elvis Presley . The Beatles and stones added a bit ( along with many many others ) ...then along came bowie and marc bolan . You didn't see artists who were almost transgender and transexual before this ....bowie add art ,mime and characters to the music scene . He wrote some shite ,but his iconic songs such as heroes and changes are right up there . A very clever man and apparently a real nice bloke . The one thing I didn't know about bowie ,was that in the early days ,he was at the forefront in the 60s as the mod scene split . Bowie was part of the psychadelic movement in the mid to late 60s,as David Jones ,he was a tea dresser ,and once again ahead of his time .....the more working class mods didn't like the more feminine dress code ...and these morphed into suedeheads and eventually skinheads . speakeasy
Come on Brits! Let's keep the tributes coming.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjYHTCR0qBk His two favourite themes in song? Cosmic apparitions and sexuality. I've been cranking his albums for two days. +++RIP
speakeasy
It was inevitable that Bowie's final album would be stellar. [video=youtube;03GN-duIY2A] I hear references to NIN's Downward Spiral in the intro here. In death as in life.. the man was a class act. Does that mean he is the Death Star?? Fitting that he has now returned to Stardust...
