Skani
I believe you people in Hobart had rain yesterday. We got nothing at all  No smoke today and warm and sunny - getting a bit boring all this sunshine ............. desperate for rain. 7 mm in my rain gauge yesterday morning. :wubclub: Not a lot...but better than nothing. Some more forecast for later this week - I really hope it reaches you too.
Parley
Do you know there is smoke over Melbourne today, from the fires in Tasmania. It drifts a long way. I thought it would go up in the air but it gets blown across Bass Strait.
Skani
You can keep the tropical north. I'm with you on that! If the climate gets any warmer down here I'm moving....to the far south of NZ...or possibly Scandinavia. :cute:

It's clear of smoke here today and we had rain from 8:00 pm until round about midnight. Hopefully that will have helped put some fires out. Today is overcast and cool. Such a relief. Skani
Do you know there is smoke over Melbourne today, from the fires in Tasmania. I wondered if that might happen when the wind change shifted to the south. I think Melbourne had smoke for days after the 1967 fires in southern Tasmania. JockinTas
Rain is absolutely hammering down here in Devonport. Most of the north coast is catching it. Unfortunately on the west coast, where the fires are still burning - rain hasn't reached there yet. This is the best rainfall we've had in this area for months. Yaaay! I think the whole town lost power too! Eek! 1 extreme to another! We haven't lost power thank goodness not bad flooding either. The rain was torrential and huge puddles are everywhere especially in the grassy areas of the parks and as the ground was so dry and hard it wasn't soaking in. The sun is out now and it's warm so what with that and the water everywhere it's really humid. Yuck!!!

Skani
I had 57 mm in my rain gauge over the last week. What amazes me is how quickly the totally brown grass around my place became totally green. :wubclub:

JockinTas
Saw some pictures of Devonport underwater!!! That was William Street and it lasted for about an hour until the council unblocked a drain. Nowhere else was affected with flooding in Devonport. JockinTas
Is the fire out yet ? Still burning in some parts of the west coast. That area didn't receive the rain we got.

Skani
Is the fire out yet ? "Fire"? You mean fires - there were 82 of them. About half are still going but have been slowed by the weather. But the areas which really needed the heavy rain didn't get it.
Skani
Yes, and bet the farmers are happier now. And I'll have to get out with the whipper snipper as soon as it dries out enough.

bobby122
I live on the west coast and this morning it is super smoky everywhere. In dire need of rain (never thought I'd be wishing for that, I spent all winter moaning about the rain)
