@Birch4 yeap, it does go a fair bit quicker. I also didn't even bother with the 10 minute break you;re allowed in PTE and soldiered onwards :)
@supercow I have come acrossed your thread and have found it an excellent read!
I am a nurse looking to start the application process and due to insufficient points for the permanent visa I am relying on maximum points on the IELTS test. Having now read your post I had a look of the PTE Academic website and the ANMAC website where I need a skills assessment I don't think the PTE Is an accepted English assessment...do you know if that is the case? I would appreciate your opinion and possible knowledge.
Going by your written English mine is definitely not that good!!
Thank uou again!
It depends if you need to do the full ANMAC assessment or the modified one? Are you AHPRA registered?
I'm in the same boat but I'm doing the PTE in order to obtain a 189 visa. I'm AHPRA registered though so don't need to prove English skills to ANMAC, I'm merely doing the PTE to bump up my points for visa reasons.
Hope that helps!
@Larad86 sorry for the delay, only just saw there was a response.
Unfortunately I can't comment on whether or not PTE is accepted by your skills assessment authority, but @lilmiss125 above seems to have a good handle on it.
If it is a viable option, good luck with it - I'll be happy to answer any PTE related questions
Thanks a billion for this helpful and informative thread!
I'm sitting PTE in a month, and as I have to travel to London to do that, the pressure is even more intense.
But you've given so much hope and confidence to all those struggling with IELTS!!!
I'm struggling for extra 0.5 points in writing, as well as the topic starter...
It's my pleasure man. Just do some prep work (the example questions on the PTE site should suffice), focus on the meaning behind the presented content, and you will be happy with the results ;)
Hi SuperC, nice explanation and very helpful information too. I just got my successful TRA result and planned to take my IELTS exam. However I changed my mind to PTE after read your post. Thanks a lot. Hope PTE result will favour me.
Hi Orlando, good luck for you PTE exam, do update me your experience .
