There are often relocations with free or money towards ferry, if you do that and take some extra days, you could use the extra days to tour then gun it to the relocation? That'd be the cheapest I reckon but obviously restrictive to a degree I.e http://www.imoova.com/imoova/relocations/view/?id=174348 = 4 days @ $1/day + 5 extras @ $75/day + plus free ferry back to Melbourne with 2 of the days for the Melbourne bit.
