Slean Wolfhead Posted March 23, 2014 Share Posted March 23, 2014 My guess as to why the flights are more expensive in Oz is that people generally earn more and the cost of living is higher compared to UK so airlines are able to charge more. Free market economics = charge what the market will bear. Ticket prices vary across all countries in the world. True, they go by specific country economies and you assume the overall profit balances out through the company. The specific profits from each country are a closely guarded secret....but you'd guess they'd work out prices on % disposable income. Just booked the father-in-law to come over here next Xmas. Booked him incoming and outgoing on the day either side of the peak travel period for £880 return via Emirates UK using a British bank and his name. bell123321 Posted March 23, 2014 Share Posted March 23, 2014 We flew with royal Brunei to Perth in 2011 cost us £500 each which we thought was a bargain (especially compared to the price in the following year). We don't really drink alcohol on flights anyway as feel dehydrated. Food was bland but if the flight is cheap it doesn't really matter. We stopped at dubai for a short 1 hour to refuel which wasn't mentioned in the itinerary. Then stopped for 3 hours in Brunei. Brunei airport is tiny with just a couple of shops but if you have a longer stop over they offer tours of Brunei relatively cheap.
