anyone know if there are good job opportunities currently for specialist nurse (sexual/contraception/womens health) and engineering (fitter) work in SA

Hi there, how are your plans going? My partner & I are moving to Adelaide 23rd Feb & cannot wait! I'm a nurse (haematology & oncology) & my partner is an electrical/fitting engineer. When I was there in Sept/Oct I visited all the hospitals & distributed my CV to the lead of all the wards/units of my background. At the time there weren't many opportunities for permanent work, but lots of temporary/casual posts available. This was the route I was anticipating having to take just to get in somewhere, that was until I received an e-mail in December, from one of the contacts I'd made whilst there, offering me a post to start this year!

Have you contacted anyone over there yet? are you registered with seek.com & SA Health? they are both great resources & notify you of any suitable/appropriate vacancies that match the criteria you input.

As regards to engineering, I know there are good opportunities there, however like all tradies, my partner has to take a step back to prove/show his abilities & competence in order to gain his A licence, before he can do the same work he's been doing here for his whole working life!!! frustrating I know, but I kind of respect the Ozy way of rules & regulations, it reduces the number of unsafe cowboys working in the industry, unlike here!!! lol

Anyway, it would be good to hear from you & catch up. We don't come on here often, we're frequently on the PIA forum (with same username) if you want to get in touch. Best of luck, Mandi x
