Ms Taurus
Hi there, I have been nominated for 457 visa and I am concerned about some convictions on my Australian police check and would like to hear some advice or if anyone has similar experiences that they would like to share. Back in 2005, while I was on a student visa, I have been charged with using false instrument. I left Australia a few months later and hired a lawyer to settle my court case and paid some fines. This is my one and only conviction and I have been good since then. I am going to mention this on my application for the 457 and I am pretty sure this will show on my police check. I am super worry that I could get refused. Can anyone tell me what my chances to get this visa are?? *Any advice will be appreciated! Thank you. blossom
Using false instrument?? I have no idea what that is, but if you were not imprissoned and are honest about it, it is unlikely to be a problem.
Ms Taurus
hi blossom 79… false instrument is fake identification. and no i wasn't imprisoned, just fined. Yes, i will be absolutely honest with DIAC. i think this is the best practice… i just hope this will not be a drawback to my visa application. blossom
Mmmmm, that could be a little harder as it is a form of dishonesty. All you can do really is be honest and keep your fingers crossed.
Ms Taurus
yea i know… all i can say is that i had a few eventful years back then… i just hope that DIAC will look at the companies i have worked for and my postgraduate qualification and consider them as some kind of character proof
