Removals

HI Quick question

Does anyone know if you can take a mountain bike into australia in removals or will it be confiscated because it may have mud etc on it?

Just bought a bike and not sure if I can take with us.

hi we had pickfords out other day and they said we could take are bikes just make sure wheels r very clean and no rust hope this helps

You can bring push bikes , you just have to clean them very well. De grease the chain and sprockets and jet wash or scrub the tyres and wheels and you shouldnt have an issue..

If it is not clean enough they will take it to be cleaned properly at your cost. To give you an idea of what to expect: I had a small, but much loved nativity scene. It had some moss/hay on the roof of it. It had to be heat treated at a cot of $250. That was almost as much as it cost in the first place. However I love it and it is very special at Christmas so we paid the money.

I am not sure how much they would charge for cleaning a bike, but you could base your guess on heat treatment for a nativity scene to give you the idea that it could cost quite a lot. However, we did as others have suggested and put Jeyes fluid all over the tires and chains to get them clean and all our mountain bikes got in without needing any sort of treatment.
