RockDr Posted November 10, 2011 Share Posted November 10, 2011 Yes you can. on the temp visa you're treated as an international student for fees though once you get the PR visa, you pay local fees but I think you have to pay them upfront as you can't get the student loan scheme thingy. BeckiNick Posted November 10, 2011 Share Posted November 10, 2011 Hi Im currently on the 820 partner visa..I have attended Tafe this year and I am classed as an InternationaL Student (paying ridiculous fees) but so worth it. When you are a permanent resident you do have to pay the domestic course fee upfront and are not eligible for Hecs until you are a citizen Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
boganbear Posted November 10, 2011 Share Posted November 10, 2011 I've been trying to sort our a TAFE course and one good thing once you get PR is that you qualify for the lower level of fees for "skilling up" as, technically, you have no Aussie qualifications which can save you heaps. The course I want to do will cost me $700 instead of $2300 even though. However, this has annoyed some of my work colleagues who are doing the same course!
