Amy79
Hi all, Just trying to book on an IELTS test, does anyone know if I should be doing the academic or general version of the test? I'm hopeful of getting an 8x4 so if anyone has any tips for success that would be great too! Thanks Amy
Guest tgeorge
Hi Amy....it depends on what you will be doing when out there. If you are a professional (nurse/teacher etc) then you need to do the academic test...otherwise the general test will be sufficient. Hope that's helpfull. I sat the test last year and it's mainly common sense. I would recommend getting an IELTs book to help prepare though and also speak to your local college. Good luck Tracey x
Amy79
Thanks Tracey. I'm hoping to go as either Marketing Specialist or Program & project admin. Just working through the finer details of best option.

Thanks Amy Is English your mother tongue (not in like first language in education, but what you learnt as a child, that is)? :err: This would answer your question about IELTS. armandra! Amy79
Yes, I was born, schooled and still live in England
armandra
Yes, I was born, schooled and still live in England Probably you would better go with General, then. Reason: General Test is usually regarded as easier compared to Academic (this is what I've seen a lot of posters sharing their experiences here as well as on other forums) coming from those whose first language is English. But, when it comes to people who have a different mother tongue and studied English as a first language from School nevertheless find Academic easier. My suggestion would be to go with General. Take your pick! :cute: And yeah, good luck with whatever you decide!! armandra!

Its difficult to get 8.
