Advice on where to live in Gold Coast for young couple?

Hi, we've just had 3 weeks on the gold coast, having stayed with friends in Mermaid Waters. I have to say a few people said that the gold coast was like Blackpool, but nicer, but having lived in blackpool and now live next door to it, I can't agree that its like Blackpool. Yes there are a couple of strips with the usual 'tat' shops, but you get that in any tourist destination. It didn't put me off and we certainly intend to settle there shortly. We'll be looking at Mermaid Beach/Waters, Broadbeach areas - close to the beach/waterways, parks, shops etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've had a look at mermaid beach/rental etc and it looks really nice! It's hard trying to decide when you have never been there!

Moving to the Gold Coast area and lookingfor some advice on the best area to live in for a young couple. We like to be near restraunts, bar, shopiing etc, not too isolated as we are used to living in a city. However we do want to live near the beach! Any ideas anyone?

Hi, Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach down to Burleigh Heads, are all good areas to look at. Mostly apartments/unit complexes/townhouses, rental prices will be slightly higher in Broadbeach. Great beaches, huge choice of restaurants/cafes, shopping, entertainment, great place to be for a young couple. Good luck!
