Thumbs up Melbourne areas

Hi all, we are moving to the Melbourne area within 12 monthsand we don't want to live near the CBD of the city but maybe an hour or so away. Does anyone live or has been to the municipality of Mornington Peninsula and Mount Martha in particular? We are looking at buying land/property off plan around this area but unless you are there, it's difficult just reading all developers info on the Net-I mean, they could be sending us pictures of somewhere else?
Cheers
Nadine

I live in a township nearby and Mount Martha is a nice area so is Mornington, but in my opinion it would take more than hour to get to the city in traffic. If you wanted to take the train to the city you would have to drive to Frankston and park there. Its an hour by train from Frankston. I live closer to the freeway to the city than Mount Martha and it takes us an hour and 10 minutes in peak hour to get to the city by car.

Mornington has a couple of shopping centres, Bentons Square which is in amongst the new housing Mornington itself which consists of the main street and a couple of small shopping centres. Lots of doctors, gyms schools, pubs, bit short of good restaurants but there are a few around but not far to drive to get to others around the area.

I have a friend who lives at Mount Martha on a couple of acres and she loves it there.

Of course I am biased as I have lived on the Peninsula for 20 years now
