Hi

Does anyone know of a good place to stay when we come over fro a reccie in August. It will be a week's stay close to public transport and other amenities (4 people)?????

Hi,

We stayed in Geelong.
It is exactly one hour on the train to Melbourne South Central from Geelong Central.
It is a good base to explore the west of Melbourne, Central Melbourne, Bellarine Peninsula and the Great Ocean Road. But if you are thinking of looking at the Eastern suburbs and Mornington Peninsula it is a bit of a trek and involves getting the Queenscliff to Sorrento ferry.
