Do renters get charged a 'council tax' in Victoria??

Hiya

I've already done a search for this and it throws up tons of threads that I need to trawl thru to find it!!

Is there a monthly council tax payment in Victoria?? I'm hoping to move to Melbourne in February and this'll affect my budget a fair bit.

Council & water fees are usually paid by the owner in Melbourne, you should only expect to pay the rent, electric, telephone and any luxuries you add such as broadband, foxtel,etc

Water is paid for by the tenant if there is one meter per property, communal meters paid for by landlord.

I think it depends on the landlord as we didn't pay for water when we took out our rental when we first arrived.
