Just wondered whether anyone's looking for a rental in Port Kennedy, WA available from the 4th of July.
We've just bought a house and are leaving the rental earlier than planned, so need to try and find a new tenant to avoid having to pay rent when we're not living in it!
The house is in a lovely part of Port Kennedy on Grand Ocean Boulevard, close to schools, shops and beaches. It's a big 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with large kitchen-diner, family room, games room/dining room, laundry and study area, also good size gardens, double carport and friendly neighbours. It is un-furnished and available for $330 per week.
If you'd like to know more please PM me and I'll put you in touch with the real estate agent dealing with the property.
Many thanks
Jo

Hi, Where abouts is this, we are coming to Perth on August 7th and will need a rental, I know you are leaving on July 4th, but maybe we could take over from August 7th,
I have never been to Perth, so would be grateful for any info you could give, I have 2 boys, 7 and 14, and need school advice if you can.
How far is the house from the Beach/Perth city/ and Airport? Thank you so much. Sharron

Hi Sharron,
We'll definitely be out by August the 7th. We're actually moving out next week, but we've had to pay rental up to 24th July - that's why we're desperate to find a new tenant - we won't get any money back unless someone else moves in before that time.
Port Kennedy is a coastal suburb approx 46km south of Perth. This house is only a couple of blocks from the sea, although there's a golf course and bushland between us and it. The nearest beach is approx a 15 minute walk (with kids!) or a few minutes by car/bike.
The city of Perth itself, in my opinion, is the most beautiful city on earth! For a capital city it's very clean, safe and family friendly. It's easy and cheap to get around by public transport - just $8.40 will get you and the family a day ticket on the weekend to travel as far and as much as you want on the buses and trains. We quite often travel up from Warnbro to Perth by train at the weekends. The road system's pretty good too - busy, but not by UK standards. The international airport is south east of the city centre - about 20mins to the city centre I think.
We chose Port Kennedy as we wanted to be close to the beach, but couldn't afford the house prices in the suburbs closer to Perth. I'd happily live closer to the city, but we need to make a few million $ first! Port Kennedy and Warnbro still have pretty reasonably priced properties within walking distance of the ocean.
There are plenty of schools in this area. My eldest is in Year 1 at Port Kennedy Primary. He's really happy there - they do much more in the way of sports, arts and music than he ever did in his UK school, but we did have problems to begin with as he was a bit ahead of the other kids in his class and was bored. I don't really know much about the other schools. Quite a lot of parents put their children in private schools - it's a lot less expensive than in the UK. We're happy to keep ours in public education at primary level, but may think about private for high school as the public senior schools in this area don't have the best reputation. Although, as I say, I'm no expert - I'm only saying what I've heard from other parents.
Hope this helps a bit - all the best with your plans!
Jo

Thank you so much for your time and help.
I think we need to get a weeks holiday rental at first so we can spend time finding the right area for High schools, Do you know of any good ones? Atwell I have been told is new and good, not sure where it is, I have never even been to Perth.
I know it will be winter in August, but does that really mean winter as we know it? What sort of clothes should we bring? Do you still go to the beach during the winter? I hope you don't mind all the questions.
Where you off to? Are you going to still be in Perth?
We are from London/Essex back home, but have been living in States for last 5 yrs, Vegas, so its going to be very different for us.
Do you love it there? How long have you been there? Where are you from back home?
Have a great day, and Thanks again x stevebagel@hotmail.com
Hi Sharron
Butting in slightly! At the moment its still pretty warm here in the daytime (18-20 degrees). At present I am usually in trousers and a t-shirt but occasionally require the odd cardigan! Our kids are still wearing shorts and t-shirts during the day but whne it a bit cooler its back to jeans . Basically if you pack for a British summer you won't go far wrong. Also it can get a bit rainy so a light raincoat and a brolly are a good idea to pack. Bring some nice cosy PJ's for the nightime as it does get quite cold then. We still pop down the beach if the suns out and its pleasent and we are also still having BBQ's on a weekend. However I'm not sure how cold it will get by August as this is our first winter here.
