renting in sydney..looking for family areas any advice??

we are moving to sydney with my husbands work for a couple of years..i wonder if anyone could give me some advice on renting and which areas are nice for families..matt will be working in northmead near parramatta have heard castle hill and hills are nice we have 750-800 to spend on rent a week
thanks guysand we are bringing a dog and cat will we have problems renting with the pets!!
def going to be in or around castle hill sydney any ideas on the pets front?? have seen loads of houses that wont allow pets is this common?? thanks guys michellex
