Brisbane - best suburbs advice

Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone living in Brisbane can advise us? We would like to buy a house over the next 6 months and are currently researching the areas.

My husband needs to be between 30-45 minutes from Brisbane CBD in rush hour.

We are open to all areas, and would love to get some advice on where would be good to live. We have a young family, so schooling is important. We saw from a previous thread, that someone had suggested Manly West. Does anyone live there on this website? What is it like to live in? How long would it take to drive from there to the CBD (my husband will be working in Edward Street)?

Any other areas which you would suggest?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

Hello from 2 POMS living in Brisbanes western suburbs. Have a look at the western area no further out than SPringfield Lakes. We are in Sinnamon Park which is a great area to live in. Anything particular that you are looking for in a place or an area?

Thanks for the reply, Joanne and Mark. I have seen a few of your replies before and was telling my husband earlier today that you had talked about how nice Sinammon Park is.

We are looking for an area which has good schools/gyms and also would only take my husband 30-45 minutes to drive into the city. How long (in rush hour) would it take to get to Brisbane CBD from Sinammon Park? What is Fig Tree Pocket like?

We are looking for a modernish house.

Thanks very much.

Hello there, nice to meet a new potential POm in OZ!

It would take you 30 mins to drive to CBD in rush hour but the public transport from here is very good. Schools seem good in this area and are well catered with school buses. Few gyms between here and the city.
Get onto Real Estate | Homes for Sale | Houses for Sale |RealEstate | REALTORs | Real Estate Agent and check out Sinnamon park, fig tree pocket, toowong, indooroopilly and see whats out there. Also if you go into Brisbane Queensland Australia - suburbs - maps - accommodation - events - street and business directory - restaurants - ourbrisbane.com it can give you history of suburbs and local amentities.

Fig Tree can be a bit pricey, you will see that when u surf the net! You can obviously buy land and build your own if that takes your fancy!

Have fun searching!

How far through the VISA process are you? What work will you be in?

Hi

Just a thing to remember is parking in the city is very expensive i had to park in the city the other day and it cost me $32 for 4 hours.

So that could open up more suburbs for you by catching the train in, roma to edward street prob take you about 10 min walking.

We live in carina and for me to get to milton i leave the house at 7am and get there for 7.30 and that is only 13 kms from where we live so if you have to start after 8 in the city allow more time.

We live a little further into the Western Suburbs than Johatts, in the boundary between Middle Park and Riverhills, and we like it very much! Schools are close, there's a decent size shopping centre close by, and it's pretty quiet. It would be about another 10 minutes on from Sinnamon Park to the CBD in rush hour.
We had originally looked around the the bayside area when we first arrived, but decided on this area as offering better value for money for property.

Difficult to know what to suggest, as this is all a personal view!

Yes!

It suits us perfectly out this way, Riverhills isn't quite as sparkly and new as Sinnamon Park but we're happy enough.
Seen you in Mount Ommaney at some point!

Hi sheerluck (jo we already know eachother lol), we live in the middle of you both at Westlake. Nice area, not too far from the train station at Darra which has a regular run into the city, buses from Mt Ommaney but they do take a while to get to the City (sorry Mark not your fault lol).
