Desperate for advice regarding renting!!!!!!

Hi

Regarding renting guys, how many utillitie bills do we need,what forms etc and how does the point system work??and how do we find somewhere when we arrive etc??

We are very concerned regarding how quick we will be able to find somewhere to rent as we will living in hotels for a couple of weeks (sydney area) and cant afford to live in hotels for long.

What advice can anyone give us please as we are feeling very unsure about what to do!!!!

Hi, We are leaving the UK on the 30th Dec for Brisbane. We have sorted our rental from the UK using realestate and just searching the area you want and looking at all of the photos available. We have scanned and emailed our visa stamps, passports, two bills, the application and driving licence. We said we would pay 3 months rent in advance due to the fact we have no jobs at the mo. They put this to the owners and they agreed. So thats seems to be all we needed. Oh and l did get a simple reference from OH's dad who owns half of our house, just saying we have kept it in good condition and would be good tenants. Hope this helps Smiths

I advise people to bring a couple of paid utility bills ,a paid up mortgage statement,copy of bank account,rental ref or character refs,copy of birth certs,visa and passport and you should be ok.I do also tell folk to offer a few month up front if they have no job ,however ive known one family have to do this.Be very careful taking a property on that you havnt inspected first,and when you do inspect it ,go through it wth a fine tooth comb as the agent will when you vacate!!When you find the area you want to be walk in every agent that covers that area to ask whats avail ,realestate is normally a few days out of date ,,good luck and im sure youll be fine

Hi we have just found a rental after 2 months of looking we arrived on the 10 of october we found some rentals not what we thought when we went to look and when we asked if carpets were going to be cleaned they said no sorry this is it.
We move into our rental on the 15th december and didnt have any bills to show just passports hubby's job details and our medicare cards also our car detail were something they asked for lucky for us we have been staying with family,Good luck im sure everything will be fine nic xx

and if so, does anyone know any solutions rather than hotels due to the cost?

Have you considered a big tent and a good campsite? That's what we're considering when we move to Melbourne until we can find a suitable rental. Oz is fantastic for camping and pretty cheap.

Hey Guys ... What About A Chalet On A Tourist Park ???? It Would Work Out A Lot Cheaper Than Hotel And Everything Is There That You Need To Get You Started . Google Tourist Parks In Sydney ... There Are Some Nice Sites Close To Cbd .... Just A Thought

Hi guys

We've decided to book a holiday apartment for our first 4 weeks. This will be cheaper for us than staying in a hotel, and hopefully we won't be panicking about getting a rental straightaway. We haven't booked yet, but do look regularly on Australian Holiday Accommodation, All states, All regions and there are some reasonable places, especially in June which is winter! Also with the holiday lets, you usually get it cheaper, the longer you stay

We have used stayz.com before when we went to Perth for a holiday, booked over the internet, paid a deposit and rest when we arrived. No problems.

Others on here will camp (like Jimbob&Rachel) and others have discussed hiring motorhomes!

Good luck with whatever you decide, and only you can decide how long you want to give yourselves to find somewhere to rent long-term.
