Here is an up-to-date recent quote from RP Data research director Tim Lawless, "Sydney, the most expensive capital with a median price of $561,199, continued to record the slowest growth. But while house prices rose only 4.1 per cent for the year to July, 3 per cent of this was in the previous quarter, showing growth had accelerated. The Australian market is "pretty much bullet-proof" with the four interest rate rises since the beginning of last year and the recent liquidity crunch from the US subprime crisis having little impact."

The market is flat here in Perth............. but it's not all doom and gloom. Granted......... genuine buyers are very much a rare commodity these days........... visitors to Home Opens other than for nosey parkers and tyre kickers are as rare as rocking horse t***s; the market here in Perth has most definitely slowed right down............ but I have no immediate plans to ferret the tools out of the shed and go back to being a plumber.

It is still very much a buyer's market here in Perth............ there are still bargains galore to be had................. it's all a question of conducting thorough research before you buy.

Very diffferent.................... but in contrast to your complicated system in the UK....... you'll probably be apt to agree that we do it right over here?

Good luck with your course........... you'll do it standing on your head!!!!

I thought I would too but it took me two years almost to finish my course so we could branch out on our own......... well worth the effort though.

Good to hear there are bargains to be had in Perth, we've had to settle for a price a bit lower than expected for our house here in the UK so a bargain is just what we need.

Who do you work for Bobcat? if you don't mind me asking, perhaps we should look you up when we get there.

Bye for now,

Jo

Bye for now,

Jo
I work for myself........... we have our own family run real estate agency.

There's a link to our webpage in the profile thingy.

Let me know what you require and i will source it for you.

Schools and location re work are important factors you will need to take into consideration prior to deciding where to live.

I deal mainly north of the river.............. but we have also sold properties as far down south as Mandurah. Most of the work is done on the internet these days.......... so within reason distance is no object?

Other than what you see on our webpage........... i have a load of what we call silent listings. No advertising.......... no fanfare........... no messing about; if I have a buyer I organise a viewing............. if they like same.............. they go ahead and purchase.

Sing out if we can help in any way?

window of opertunity

As with any investment

There is
A time buy
A time to hold
A time to sell

Sounds like the window of opertunity to sell house has now gone in the U.K

When i read in the Australian last week about the northern rock
problem.

Just could not believe a 23 Billion pound loan from the taxpayer !!!!!
all is not well in the banking world.

Shed?

I would not have thought you could buy anything in Sydney for $260,000. I have seen sheds sell for more than that. House prices here are still ridiculous even in the worst parts of western Sydney. I look forward to a fall - even though we have bought our own place.
The problem is the negative gearing tax breaks that encourage people to buy investment properties and keep prices way above what working families can afford.

I live in Sydney and I afraid those reports of house prices dropping are wrong -- in some of the outer suburbs the prices have dropped but closer into the city or the beaches its pay up time. As for buying a 4 bedroom house for $300,000 good luck
