Australia council tax etc?

Hey

I was wondering if there were extra things to pay for on top of a standard mortgage (like council tax here, insurance ....). It would be good to know so that I can do my sums.

Thanks

G'day

Things are very different in each Aussie state. And also very different within the state.

Here in Perth, there are annual Water Rates levied by a State Government department. Our rates are about $850pa then we are charged for excess water usage (about $50pa). Each City or Town council then charges Council Rates. Ours is $900 per year but based upon what friends pay, this can vary from $600pa to $2,000pa.

Building insurance costs us about $200pa, contents insurance is more and car insurance is more again.
