1 hour on train I think
I would be interested in staying in Cleveland, looks like a good area. I am concerned though. 1 hour by train seems a rather long time into the CBD considering it's just 28km/37 mins by car according to maps.google.com.au. Is this a train that stops many times? I could nearly do 28km on my bicycle in an hour (if it's not too hot that is).

If you're staying for a short term, a holiday village is definitely an option to look into.
When we moved to Brisbane, we stayed for a couple of months at the Brisbane Holiday Village, in Eight-Mile Plains, only a short ride by bus to the city, great shopping (Garden City) and a very nice place overall for the whole family.
Look for it at this address: http://www.brisbaneholidayvillage.com.au/

      Hope this helps!

      Hi Phil
Just read your thread and looked at the website you recommend, did you pay about $16000 for 2 months accommo?

This sounds sooo expensive, was it really your best option?

I am also looking for a short term rental, they are all so expensive on the websites suggested here. My budget stretches to max 300 dollars a week for a 1 bed or studio. I have tried gumtree/locanto and other share sites and all the replies so far have been from scammers in my price range so giving up. Had hoped to find a place near CBD but doesnt seem possible for a budget. Hostel dorm is not an option as ill be working nights sometimes. Help!

I think youd be better booking a motel for a week or 2 and finding somewhere longer term once your here, your going to struggle getting decent short term furnished for under $300. If youve tried all the sites above and had no joy, try SEQRENTS.com (maybe.au).

Oh ok, that sucks. I know a friend used that site to find somewhere to live last year after his house was flooded. Good luck!

      Hi Emma,
$16000? That's a hefty sum! I'm sure we didn't pay that much (as we had barely any savings when we migrated).
Sorry the link didn't help. Good luck in your search though!
