Help Pls~How easy to get a rental when in Aus?
Hi ~ I am booking a holiday rental for when we first arrive
But what I need to know is, how easy is it to get a rental once we are there, how long could it take before we can move in? etc...
I am unsure how long to book my holiday rental for?
Dont wanna end up homeless!

Hi Kelly
Not sure on Perth but Melbourne is around 3-4 weeks, and that's only because they run the silly system of OFI's rather than letting you view a property immediately.
Hopefully someone from over WA way can give you some kind of time frame, it may also depend on which suburb you are interested in.

We booked a holiday let for 6 weeks. We arrived on a Thursday night and I found a rental on Monday. So we ended up paying for two places so we didn't lose out on the fab rental we found.

So would you think that a month is long enough?
If we book for another 2 weeks on top of that, its another $1500 (dont want to spend it if not needed

I should think a month is enough. As long as you hit the ground running on looking for rentals you should be okay. I started immediately and it paid off. I found a house that had just on the market that morning and it was perfect for us. I viewed others as well whilst our application was being reviewed and it is by far the best one in the areas we wanted for the money we wanted to spend.

Start looking on realestate 2 weeks before you arrive and see what's open for inspection, get in contact with the agents and tell them that you are really interested in viewing as soon as you touch down.
Make a list of what is available, get a pack put together before you leave then you are ready to go.
