Validation Trip
Hi guys
We are going to Perth in October for three weeks this year to validate our visas and have a bit of a holiday
We intend to look around the job situation and schools and areas we like for housing
Any one got any ideas of things we should also be looking into while we are there
Thanks

My ex-gf's Mum & Dad used to have a house in Deganwy, on the golf course. Lovely place that, why you leaving? Not that its any of my business.
Perth is great also!

We love living here but the way things are going in the UK not sure it is the best place to raise our children and we love Perth
How do you find life in Perth?

If you ignore my post tonight about OH being assualted then we love living in Perth.
Okay my reccie advise is to stay in the kind of suburb you will be able to afford to live & stay in a house rather than a hotel. On ours we tried to 'live like we lived there' I'm not saying we didn't have any treats but we shopped at the supermarket, cooked at home, got up early and travelled into the city in the 'rush hour' by car and train (not everyday just to suss it out)
The best thing to do is get hold of the local papers as soon as you arrive (The West Australian and as many of the free local papers as you can, maybe even the Quokka - the WA 'Loot')
Attend some home open's to see what houses are really like (that was one hell of an eye opener for us)
Schools are not that keen to show you around if you don't already live in the catchment area - although some private schools might. A good tip though is to travel on public transport near to schools you're intersted in and just watch how the pupil behave - it speaks volumes.
We got a couple of interviews lined up before our reccie - it's worth contacting companies and telling them you will be available for interviews during that period - it worked for us and we both got job offers.
The great thing about Perth is everything is shut on Sunday's so join the locals down the beach or in the park and get a real taste of aussie life.
And enjoy!
Jules
