Not been on here for ages as been busy settling in to my new life in Perth. Just wanted to let you all know how its going..... Well, 5 months in and we are loving it. We left the UK on the 3rd of Jan, spent 2 days in Dubai then arrived in Perth on the 6th Jan. It was 42 degrees when we arrived, very hot but lovely. We were lucky enough to have friends to stay with until we found a rental. Rentals are difficult to come by at the moment in Perth but we struck lucky with a brand new house in Butler.

My husband got a job within the first week of us being here, (he was determined he would get one asap) I got one after 3 weeks. (im a nurse, hubbys a pipelayer)

I got Millie (age 3) into a local nursery in Quinns Rocks, she is really settled now.

We love our new life in Perth, yes things are expensive but you earn more..... The people are lovely, friendly, helpful, amazing beaches, loads to do with the children. Anyone reading this thinking of applying.... go for it.... anyone reading this heading to Perth, message me if you want any info..
      Good luck to you all

Hi Vicky, glad things are working out .

were looking at perth next feb/march, is it possible to give me any low down on schools.
i e mailed the new head teacher at the new school( who seemed a nice guy) but he said the intake is year 8 only.
next year ( Perths) our children will be 14,10 and Millie 5 .
we looked into Clarkson for Georgia our eldest but keep seeing negative posts.
im a plumber so do you know wht the northern suburbs are like for work.
sorry for all the questions but sometimes it helps so much more coming from somebody over there .
we have started looking outs as well secret harbour way as there seem to be more choice of rentals.

Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated

      Thank you for your time

So glad that you have settled in Perth and landed on your feet so quickly. It is a lovely city, enjoy the reverse cycle air con, it can feel bloody cold in the house in a Perth winter without it.

      Cheers

Back in Canada over a year and half, miss some aspects of Australia but glad to back home. !!!!

Sounds like your having a great time!! We arrive in Perth this Saturday 25th cant bloody wait!!
been a hard few weeks !!
How did you find the rental market we keep hearing lots of stuff about how hard it is to get a house rented?
we have no pets just our two girls Poppy (4) and Millie( 8 months)
and how is your Millie getting on at Nursery? we are going to spend 4 weeks in Merriwa and look around for a long term rent any tips on areas?

      Thanks for any help

That was a really positive thread Milliebooboo, just what we needed. I am also a nurse who is in the process of hopefully moving to WA. Can you advise me what the job situation is for nurses (medical-respiratory or diabetes) preferrably. Can you also advise me of a good area to settle near a bigish size hospital and good schools. I have 2 boys 14 and 10 and my main priority is for them to settle. We also need affordable housing with lots to do, thanks x
