Thanks for posting this frostie, very reassuring. We arrive in Sydney 3 weeks today and you're story is exactly our best case scenario. Great to see that it can all work out and fairly hassle free. Maybe see you in the hills sometime soon!!

Yes defiantly, are you heading for the hills? We have 6 weeks in the crows nest north Sydney to start with. We love the feel of the hills areas especially for the kids.
We done our Medicare today, and that was also straight forward.
Good luck with your flight

Hi the catholic school we are looking at worked out approx $4500 per year for the 2 kids per year payable in 3 terms... We haven't got the placement yet but are applying very soon so will keep you updated.
We were planning to look at the local state school but the one we visited was so welcoming plus the kids already attended a faith school in the uk and it felt familiar to them in some way. They also can't wait to get the bus without me!

wow , thats a nice surprise as thought i was looking about 10000 AUD for 2 kids schooling per year, we are not catholic but my boys also got to a catholic school over here in UK and so i think some familiarity is a good thing sometimes
my boys would love to go to school on a bus without me too , dont take it personally , lol x

I'll see your 3 kids and raise you 1 !
We are hopefully going to Sydney in 6 weeks time arghhhh
My girls are 11, 9 and 8 and I have a nearly two year old boy.
All sounds painless enough, any tips or things you wish you'd done differently for the journey ? I am seriously considering sending hubby ahead of me so that he is over the jet lag when I arrive with the other children, I'm expecting that to be a killer for me, love my sleep lol

Lol.... I wish I hadn't take so many toys with me, had so much stuff on board and didn't need it. I took their fleece blankets, neck pillows etc and they just used the ones given to them on the aircraft.
to be honest the kids got over their jet lag a lot quicker than me. They all slept on the plane, although for two of them it may have been their travel sickness medicine that made them sleep. They are normally really sick but it worked for both of them. They didn't sleep till the evening we arrived and within 2 days were totally into routine here, bed at 8 up at 7.
If you do the longer stopover I would defiantly recommend a swim, was so nice to get some air, some exercise to wear the kids out again and a nice shower, change of clothes and hair wash... I felt human again.
My youngest sat there watching the tv screen with n head phones for ages, and I also took a couple of travel games from the elc But again she wasn't interested in them.Do you know where you are staying yet? Safe trip over and hope it all goes ok

congratulations!!!! sounds wonderful.
can i just ask thiough about your shipping. i will onkly be shipping a couple of suitcases, pictures etc as dont own much. for the shipping side of things, if you didnt have an address when you landed in oz, then how does that work. do you ring them when you land with an address?! sorry if that seems a bit of a daft question.
i have had quotes around 12 weeks for shipping for my small belongings but that was with one company. anyone know who will ship small items not a full container? alot i contacted said only containers. spprox 2 large suitcases, large pictures, maybe a couple of bedside dressers.
thanks

On the back on Melanie's request, can anyone confirm a rough price for a container, and if anyone has good experineces with any company.
Thanks
