Six cyclones forecast for this summer

I know we are approaching cyclone season, but it looks like we may have a bad summer this year in Queensland.

Six cyclones for summer | QLD News | Breaking News in Queensland | Central Queensland News

Apparently Gladstone rarely has them as we are protected by Mount Larcom in the north and the islands out at sea. The last time the city was hit in 1949 all the churches were demolished (but all the pubs were left standing!!!) Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum

I think we will be heading to Bunnings for one of those survival tubs.

This is truly a harsh and wonderful land.

D'you know what?? We left UK in December and all we heard was "this is the coldest, whitest winter in 30 years" or whatever.

We arrived in Central Queensland and heard "this is the wettest summer in 20 years" and tour busses were going to the dam to see the highest ever water level.

Now we are having the "wettest October" in I don't know how many years.

I think it might be us.....

Its normally me, and I'm not there yet, so I cant be blamed!

We were in South Africa one year, and it was their worst summer for about 50 yrs, and the storms had meant all the beaches were closed, we were over in Brisbane May 2009 and it had been their worst weather for years in May and it rained the whole time, we had the worst winter in the UK a few years back when at xmas we were snowed in and couldnt get to the airport for a flight so we normally get the blame.

Hope its all done before we get there!

In my best teacher voice " Dont care whose fault it is... whoever it is just stop it now!"
If you are determined not to enjoy it you won't .... simple as that!

Or perhaps climate change? There have been extreme weather conditions all over the world effecting world food markets leading to protectionism eg, with the Ukraine blocking grain exports, Egypt panic buying, food riots etc... To be fair, the Queensland 'mystic megs' regularly predict six or seven cyclones each year - although basically once they form they can cross land virtually anywhere.... It certainly feels like we are getting some pretty violent weather here already though - 35 knots of wind tonight and absolutely hammering it down. The seas aren't hot enough for cyclones yet though - I believe they need to get up to 27 degrees - not quite there. We should get some lovely stingers soon as well!!

      don't panic

when it starts getting to cyclone season talk to your local SES people - they will run you through what you need to know

I ran a bottle shop in Darwin in the 80's and the big selling time was cyclone season - eveyone would stock up for a cyclone party - if they were going to be killed by bad weather they were going to be drunk doing it LOL

big thing is put all loose things in the garage, clear up the junk regularly and check the trees near you for potential lethals
