Great Barrier Reef
Hey!
Me and my boyfriend are coming over in 2012 for our pre move holiday, he has never been before but really wants to go to the great barrier reef. we have holidayed in the maldives the last two years running so we are really into the secluded beach/snorkeling thing, however, we'll be doing this holiday on a budget. i was wondering what the best way to see the reef is, i wanted to spend about a week of our four week holiday, in total relaxation, preferably on one of the islands. does anyone know the cheapest island? or maybe another island or hotel that is amazing to stay in (but cheap) which is near the reef???
i just need him to fall in love with the whole experience.
Thanks!

G'day mate, there are about 900 islands in the GBR and it is roughly 2,600 km long...
Some of the resort islands are very expensive, such as Lizard, Hamilton and Bedarra while most cater to the families. In all, there are about 100 islands that cater to holiday makers.

For what it's worth, my personal preferences are Daydream, Long and South Molle islands in the Whitsundays.
Would suggest that you check out google as to the type you want.
Cheers, Bobj.
