Anywhere from $60 to $150 per day depending on what sort you're after; family daycare is normally cheaper than daycare centres.

You need to factor in childcare rebate which is up to 50% once the childcare benefit has been assessed and paid. I assume no benefit and 50% rebate paid quarterly when doing the calcs.

Wow, you can pay as much as $150 per day for childcare!!

What is the rebate for? Is this based on your income? Is it like the tax credits we get in the UK?

When we arrived my daughter went to private day care, their costs were $50 pr day (have now risen to $60), however as i was only on a small income Centrelink paid over 50% of her costs every week. The percentage does alter depending on your income ,i did find that they covered alot more of the costs than the UK did when my son was in child care there.

Hi
I also have toddler of 3 and due to move out to Brisbane area in May. Not sure whether I can afford to work as in the UK I have grandparents who look after my other one... It is so difficult to work out how your life can work around this new challenges. I wish you well. Keep in contact.

Hi there

For full time care you are looking at $300 per week if you have an awesome income and dont get any centre link assistance. You still get 50% of this back every quarter. If you make a moderate or low income then you can get up to 80% off, but not off the fee, off the centelink limit. For example: Centre link will pay maximum of $3.60 per hour, so they will pay 80% of this not 80% of the actual fee which is usually $5 per hour. So roughly speaking you might pay $150 per week with 50% of that back each quarter. Confused?
