Ahh, sorry to hear you're finding it difficult to meet people. We were lucky as the street we moved to people were super friendly and all our direct neighbours came to introduce themselves and let us know they were there if we needed them.
I met a few people through work, and also found myself somewhere to horse-ride and I've been lucky and met a few people that way. Also, walking our dogs we've got chatting to a few people.
Are you working yet? Have you popped round to your neighbours and met them etc?
Don't know about what others think, but for us, we prefer to meet people 'naturally' if you know what I mean, I've met up with people because they've emmigrated etc , but to be honest it can feel a bit like a blind date and you can sit there thinking "why am I here?,..I'd never normally 'be friends' with these people if I were in the UK" etc. It may work for some people, but for us it made us feel a bit 'down & desperate'.
Not sure whereabouts you are in Brissie, as we are up on the Sunshine Coast near Caloundra, but I've heard Southbank is a busy place to go on a Friday pm/evening....have you been there yet? You might get talking to people there..or if not, you'd still have a great time ;o)
Chin up Berrymuffins...
Keep at it
Jenny :o)
