Gold Coast health centre to slash waiting lists: Bligh | The Courier-Mail

"A NEW health centre on the Gold Coast will help slash surgery waiting lists by treating as many as 8000 patients each year, Premier Anna Bligh says.

Queensland Premier Ms Bligh said the government was committing $20 million a year to help run elective surgery procedures through the privately-owned Allamanda Surgicentre."

The plan is that elective surgerys scheduled at the clinic will not be cancelled if there is an emergency, as may happen in a general hospital, as the centre will only deal with elective surgery patients.

The Allamanda Hospital is in Southport; not too far from the new university hospital being built too.
