Arrow Schools in and around Redcliffe Queensland

Hi, we are moving out to Redcliffe around August 2009 and we just wanted to know what schools you would recommend in and around the area. My boys will be aged 10, 9 and 6 years old? Is there anything we are to be aware of that is done differently to the U.K. i.e. fees, uniform, after school clubs etc.
many thanks
Glen
bloody kids. I am hoping with all the after school clubs and outdoor lifestyle they will all stop arguing so much

Hi Glen, we live in Kippa-ring on the Redcliffe peninsula been here since Jan this year. Our kids go to Hercules state primary school (2 girls 10 and 7), and they both love it and have made loads of friends. All the schools around the area seem to have a good reputation. There are also a few private primary schools as well. Hercules road has a strict school uniform policy ( I think all the schools do) it cost me about $100 - $150 to kit them out with the uniform, but they wear trainers so you don't have to fork out for proper school shoes. You have to buy their books and stationary which was about $100 each, there is also a voluntary parent contribution! of $30 each. School outings are on at the moment and cost us $11 for 7 year old to go to Brisbane museum and $23 for 10 year old to go to underwater world up the sunshine coast. Don't think there are many other expenses. Loads of after school clubs and they pick up from the schools. Hope this helps, Elena

Hi all moving over....we arrived on 2nd July and are currently lucky enough to be staying with friends in Margate...YES MARGATE, it is 2 mins from Redcliffe Pen ( Woody Point, Redcliffe & Scarborough ). A lovely school is Humpeybong State and overlooks the sea, i drive past every day and it looks lovely. Just a note i have been told Mango Hill isn't as nice as other areas, North Lakes is Nice and has a massive American size shopping mall and is approx 10/15 mins drive from Redcliffe. And for the person who mentioned Naragba, we also have some friends there too, it's approx 25 mins from Redcliffe and 30 mins from the Sunhine coast. We are moving up to Sunshine as we go there all he time, we may aswell move there :o)
Margate is lovely though, has great BBQ facilities on the waters edge and the infamous local " Lagoon " which is a large freeform pool with kiddie section. Also this time of year you can watch the whales Migrating for winter ( this week averaged at 25c and sunny, if this is winter, bring it on i say. ) Best of luck to all, Natalie, Andy, Fran and Harrison.

Thx for advice natma1, will have a proper look round once we get there and make sure have a good look around b4 we decide exactly where to settle.

Sorry to barge in on the post but wonder if others can advise on holiday rentals, was thinking about booking a rental we found ourselves but would appreciate any other reccommendations in and around Redcliffe, Woody Point, even Mango Hill and in North Lakes in general until we find long term rental. What have you guys booked...please advise as time is soooo short, thx again guys!
Take care
Maria & family

Hi april,
i am just looking at schools for my boys at the moment in redcliffe and have found 'scarborough state school' in eversleigh road and the secondary school 'redcliffe high' in klingner road. We have chosen these two schools because we want to live quite near to queens beach where the 'redcliffe lagoon' is situated knowing my boys we will be there every day, even when it is raining and cold they are in our pool. The 'redcliffe cliffe leagues club' is at the end of kligner road this is great for a bear with a good food menu and children are very welcome with their own play area. We are looking to base ourselves in kligner road in the middle of the two schools so that when my boys are old enough they can walk to school without going miles to get there. If you google 'schools in and around redcliffe area' we have found a map with all of the catchment areas bold outlined so you know which school you will get depending on where you live. Hope this helps and goodluck for your move. See you out there soon. Glen
