Hi there. My name is Claire. Just started the Visa process. At the mo we are feeling to go to Queensland maybe the Brisbane area. As we have been advised that this would be a great place to go for my husband who is a self employed carpenter to get work easily. Can anyone give me any advise about the above or anything really. Thanks Cx
Do as much as you can using the online visa applications as it's quicker than doing the paper chase! Good luck we're hoping to head to Southport on the Gold Coast just south of Brisbane at the end of May.

For tradesmen there are a lot of new housing developments North and south of Brisbane. So there is potentially lots of scope for work. I personally could not live in Brisbane, i want a more relaxing, quieter, life these days.

Sorry can't help with your questions but did just want to say hi and welcome to PIO, you will find everyone really helpful and honest but be warned the site can be addictive. All the best.

Hiya welcome to poms,im in outter brisbane ,like paul i couldnt live in the city its to built up and hustle and bustley for me ,but thats a personal choice.Work wise your hubby shouldnt have a problem as everywere in brisbane seems short for tradeys, have you narrowed down areas by using Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au this is a really good property site and will give you an idea on prices(they vary greatly across the brissy region)
good luck with everything

Thank you. I think we will feel the same. We live an hour from London now and when i go up for the day shopping im so glad to go home to sleepy old Witney. So will have to look just outside Brisbane i think....Cx

Don't live too far; just been shopping there today (Southport, not Liverpool that is!). Chucked down all morning . Got loads of bargains though!
Good luck with your move,

If you are not into the hustle and bustle of Brisbane why not look at the Northern outer suburbs and sunshine coast regions? There is plenty of work for carpenters and it would be a perfect seachange.
Perhaps consider bayside suburbs like Redcliffe and North Lakes or perhaps some sunshine coast hinterland acreage like Sippy Downs, Buderim and Beerwah.
I personally think that North Lakes is a fine place to start for you but I'd only be too happy to help you out if you have anymore questions.
