Moving to Gold Coast

Hi everyone,
I'm a junior doctor just been offered a job in Gold Coast for one year. Never been to australia before. Been trying to do my research, still not sure whether its for me. I'm 24, love shopping and partying, not very sporty but willing to give it a try. I suppose I'm more of a city girl but have lived in the Cornish countryside for one year and survived.
How cosmopolitan is Gold Coast if at all? I'll be going alone, how easy is it to meet new people over there?
ANY advice I can get would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Amina

hey we are moving to the gld coast in May, and I have researched every single nook and cranny, it really depends on where you want to live, Surfers Paradise is where it all happens and is where all the bars and clubs are, then you have main beach which from what i can gather is the place to stroll and eat, but if you do a search on google it will bring a map up, then just do further searches once you know which hospital you will be working in, hope thats of some help, we are heading to Biggera Waters area a lot quieter as we have 2 young kiddies and about 30 mins from Brissie.

Hiya you shouldnt find meeting people a problem especially at the coast. If you want to be in the hussle and bustle and can afford rental prices have a look around syrfers paradise,if you prefer it a bit quieter but not remote check out coomera, robina etc all are popular up and coming areas,i think youll find the opposite of the cornish countryside, lol, good luck with everything

HI. I personally think the Gold Coast has something to offer all ages, shapes and sizes!!

There are great eateries from North to South from very cheap ( but still good!) to mega bucks ( Versace! Even thats not too bad!)

The shopping is great too!! TedderAve, Brizvegas,Pac fair etc etc

Buzzing wine bars ( tedder again and loads of ferraris, porsches, rollers to be seen!)

Surfers is a bit touristy but I think its great!! Live bands in the streets etc

Fantastic beaches all without exception and the surf clubs are situated perfectly for a great bevvy with a great view of fit surfers... Paradise!!

Climates great also.... Sorry am I boring you!!

I have been here 9 weeks and I love it already... wouldnt want to be anywhere else, not even Wales!!!
