Annette is on a distinguished road
Springfield area

Hi

We are in the process of applying for our Visa ( well we are waiting to hear ) and are hoping to validate in July. during this trip we will be looking at areas we like. We were going to be looking at North Lakes but have been put off by a few things.

Now we are thinking of looking at the Springfield area. Can anyone answer us the following (strange ) questions:

What are the senior schools and tafe in the area like ?

Can you get broadband ?

Is it a good place to live ?

is there lots of places to walk the dog especially off the lead ?

regards

Don't know Springfield area to be honest but it is close to where I used to work - Carole Park.
I understand that they're putting a new rail line into springfield. This will increase real estate prices I should imagine. Check this out with queensland Rail to confirm.
This area of Brisbane is probably going to be described as "blue collar". I haven't heard negative reports about it. Its on the opposite site of the Centenary highway to Forrest Lakes which is an OK spot to live as far as I know? I'd be amazed if you couldn't get broadband... but its generally slower in Aus than UK I understand?
Schools... wouldn't have a clue?
I've very rarely seen dogs off the lead. Its just not done. Most dogs are kept in the backyard. You definately cannot let your dog off the lead in a National Park... I'm pretty sure you can't even take a dog into a NP either? People don't do it often as you will get fined if caught. As for taking a dog into a kiddies park/play area I doubt you'd be able to that without being challlenged but I don't know for sure? That doesn't leave a lot of options? maybe some discrete rough ground somewhere. Letting your dog crap outside someones house won't go unchallenged - this is a cultural difference, aussies are not dog/pet haters they just expect pathways to stay clean.
By the way I'm not a dog hater either I'd like to have a dog but the backyard is too small for the sort of dog I'd have.

Hiya springfield lakes is the new estate development around there and it looks great, its about 15mins drive from here and expanding at a rate of knots.Alot of the new plot sizes are very tiny so be warned,in oz its called low maintaince, personally theres not enough room for a washing line never mind swings and a slide, lol, but we all want different things. The school is highly spoke of around here and obviously with the new shopping centre and university nothings too far away.Broadband shouldnt be a problem as fatpom says and there was all bushland across the road near the shopping ctr to walk the dog ,but thats currently being flatened for more development!! as long as you tidy up behind your dog you sholdnt have a problem walking around the lakes etc,for more freedom with the dog look at the shopping ctr side of the estate, hope this helps a bit
