Need some help, Gold Coast area

Was hoping for some pointers on areas to live on the gold coast.

      I'm toying with either.

A small apartment/one bedroom flat near the sea then renting a small workshop so i could still have somewhere to store trackday cars and work on them.
Anyone know how much i'd pay for a small workshop with power big enought for three cars, dosen't need to be any fancy an old farm building would be fine as long as it had power and was water tight.

The other option, which i'm starting to think maybe the most sensible/economical option is to rent a house with a bit of land/outbuildings out of town but within a commutting distance.
Could anyone give some ideas of regions to start researching?

I'm only looking for a small (one person) sized house btw around the $250 per week mark.

      Thanks for any help!

      hi paul

go on Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and check out what you can afford.

      Hi Paul,

You'll find the houses on the outskirts nearer the mountains a lot cheaper with lots of land, some of these houses are older properties but usually a lot larger which you probably don't need. There are loads of industrial estates everywhere, so getting a unit would not be a problem at all, there's particular loads in this weekend Gold Coast Bulletin, might be worth going on their website for Estate Agent links. We live near Robina and its only a 10 min drive to the beach so pretty much wherever you decide to live is close to the beach - those on the beachfront are more expensive obviously.

Around West Burleigh there are so many small industrial estates and more being built and always advertised. I'm sure this will be the same around the Nerang/Southport area, maybe not so much inbetween though. This will be something probably best to look at when you get here because you will have lots of choice and you can see whats nearby.

      Hi Gwen,

The outskirts of Mudgeeraba, heading towards Springbrook is beautiful. Lots of the homes here have large acreage and horses etc, also moving north into Tallai, Worongary. the mountains are only a 25 min drive from the beach so there's Mount Nathan and a bit further north Mount Tamborine. CalNGary who post on here live in Jimboomba which is is a lot further north - not sure if its still classed as the Gold Coast, might be worth you dropping them a PM.

When we were in the UK we bought a copy of the Gold Coast UBD (Street Map) online from Dymocks (in Australia) to see where everywhere was and what was nearby etc, it would be worth you having a look at one of these.

Hope this helps, these are only the places I've been to though I'm sure there's lots of other places and I don't know anything about the Sunshine Coast.

      My ears are burning!!!lol
Liz is right we are just behind the gold coast hinterland in rural suburbia!! lots of acerage and land but still near enough to everything you need.Hubby works down at surfers and it takes him about 45mins commute,if we need the city its 45 mins in the other direction.Flagstone which is the acerage estate we are on is growing so fast and we are having, hospitals, ampitheatres etc being built in the next few years,it really is a lovely family area still within most peoples budgets, drop me a line if you need anymore info,,

      Jimboomba

Thanks for that liz and cal,
Can I ask cal what are the prices of rentals in Jimboomba with some land,we rent in uk with a bit of land and my daughter has two horses.
Sad to say we will not be able to afford to bring them with us,but the only way I would get my daughter over is to buy her another horse once over there.
Do you no what prices are like for horses over there,or could you find out for me.
And also (I no I am a pain for asking all thes questions)my husband would be coming over as a painter and decorater what is that line of work like over there.
      Thankyou so much Gwen x x x

Thats why we bought here, lol,i havnt had a horse since i had zak 9yrs ago and really want another ,tell her its horsey heaven over here and they are sooo cheap to buy,let her look at Horse Deals - Thousands of Horses For Sale that should give her a good idea.Acerage rentals vary from approx $330pr week upwards depending on just where in jimboomba/flagstone it is.Acerage propertys sell for $350k upwards again depending on size and position,if you look on Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au use postcode 4280 in search,it will give all the local propertys in and around jimboomba.I would suggest to your hubby to check out the new house build companys ,theres lots of houses going up with the release of another section of the estate ,but new build around here are very popular, the new springfield lakes section is only 15mins drive and theres loads of new estates inbetween,,all these houses need decorating!!!lol
      hope this helps a bit
