Tyre Debris

Can anyone tell me why there seems to be so much tyre debris on the Pacific Hwy ?
Are tyres inferior quality here or are the roads different?

Its the same on the Bruce Highway.....I think it's cause the aussies are a bit dense and only renew their tyres when one blows...I know the rules are different here and that we dont need an "MOT" until we sell it etc...All I can say is that I'm surprised I haven actually seen one go while I have been behind the wheel...Are the Aussies really that thick????? take a look next time you park somewhere at how many cars have bald tyres..You will be amazed!!!

I dont think its just bald tyres,,my friend had a blow out taking her son to work and she had pretty decent retreads on ,,apparantly they arent very wise over here because of the heat and dirt tracks you often travel on,dont know how true this is but as you say theres debris everywhere!!!guess ill stay clear of retread too, lol.

Driving along the highway on Monday (Elanora -Beenleigh) saw a truck on hard shoulder moving very slowly whilst a bloke picked up tyre debris by hand and put on truck. They also had a police escort following them!

Also on trip back, overtaking lorry when it had a blowout! Hope the poor bloke didn't have to clear that debris up from middle of highway lol!

i would never say that the aussies are dense ;) but...... I got a speeding ticket the other day doing 120 in a zone that changes from 110 to 100 for no apparent reason. The traffic plod was hiding in the bushes in the CENTRAL RESERVATION of a 4 lane motoway pointing his stupid radar thing at me. $150 in cold blood.

Whoops Aldo...I quite often get a speed up along the highway..I will have to keep a look out for that...I didn't mean they were dense, or maybe I did :) I know of another pair of PIO'ers that have only been here a short while and already both have been collared by the law..(mentioning no names) :)

we both got done within the first few weeks of being here(gary twice),it did slow me down but now i know what im looking for too,,there was one in a 4wd the other day and his sign was INFRONT of his car pointing across the road so you couldnt have read it anyway(partly because the grass was taller than his sign) he was catching guys approaching from the rear so anyone not knowing they have these type of cars would have just thought it was a vehicle parkjed on the verge,,they sure are slimey over here, lol

Oh they sure are! We got "done" on the BRuce Highway coming back frmo Noosa after being here about 6 months. Then Mark got done in his bus on Mt Coot-tha. There is a section at the bottom of a hill which is a 50kph. Its a diabolical limit for this area and way below the rest of the area!

Slimey aint the word!

Mark got RBT`d in the first week we were here! (Dont mind that tho!)

What scares me is the drink driving mentality. Drink driving here actually means drinking a Corona while you're driving without actually spilling any! When I was commuting to Brissie I saw loads of dual cab utes full of workers coming back down the M1 with a stubbie in hand, including the driver! Even my boss and fellow co-workers joined in. The trick is to hold the stubbie between the thighs whilst driving!! On a Friday arvo at knock off time look out for the near misses at the interchanges as beered up workers jump the lights on the way home! Quite scary!
My Aussie cousins can't believe it when we offer to get a taxi after a drinks session and they decide to drive home. I am told we don't get taxis here......this is the Gold Coast!? I know the saying "When in Australia.....". But I don't think I will be joining in on this one!
