hello, i am looking for some advice on where abouts would be best to imagrate to.
we are a young family, i am 24 my husband 25. i have 2 kids one age5 and one 8 months old, and we are looking for advice on where is the best suited to us to move to in early 2009.
i have looked at many areas and have more or less settled on queensland, in particular brisbane or that area surrounding. we both have trades, iam a hairdresser and my husband is a plumber/gas fitterwe would love to move to the coast or close enough we could enjoy the coastal living but there are so many subburbs that i dont know where to start.we were intending to visit this summer but we are so anxious to get there we have decided to keep our £5000 and put it towards the big move, that way we will get there faster. if anyone has any advice on areas they think would suite us please help. thankyou
ssssssssssssoooooooooooooooo jealous if you are already there, it is freezing here in glasgow, snow gales the lot xxxxxxxxxx
hello do you have any advice as to where is best for us even to look into. anything would be brill
ps where abouts in glasgow is your husband from, we are in cambuslang.
We have just moved to Robina on the Gold Coast and love it here, in fact almost everywhere on the Gold Coast is nice - its a fast growing area, lots to do, beautiful beaches and Brisbane is an hours drive north from us. We've found some safe beaches for the kids here, the start of river estuarys with no waves and lots of nice little shopping centres. Currumbin, Tweed Heads, Burleigh Heads are lovely coastal resorts, it tends to be mainly holiday accommodation or units there, we are a 10 minute drive from the beach. The main residential areas near us that we like are Robina, Mudgeeraba, Varsity Lakes, West Burleigh, Clear Island Waters - lovely big houses with boat moorings!!!!There's a fair bit of work on the Gold Coast so its not necessary to move to a city unless you're after that lifestyle. These are just places we have visited and I'm sure other people can give you an insight into other areas.
I've heard that the Sunshine Coast just north of Brisbane is also nice but not been there myself.
We bought a Gold Coast UBD (street map) from Dymocks online when we were in England and studied it to see how close towns were to beach, shops etc!!!
Hope this helps
Liz

Hiya its a tough choice because there are soo many good areas. It may be wise to start with Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and eliminate areas out of your price range, coastal living is great but pretty costly at the moment as is city living.Job wise i dont think youd struggle too much anywere but as a guide look at SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site for vacancies. We settled on this area because we wanted room to move but not be too far from anything ,the kids love the outdoors lifestyle and are very rarely indoors(except for this week because of all the rain, lol).A good read is the Where2Live guide on greater brisbane as this covers lots of the suburbs.good luck and well done for saving your money ,i dont think youll regret it

Hi,
Sorry about the half reply!Yes,my husband is from Cumbernauld and we can recommend W.Sydney .House prices are around $300.000 for a 3 bed house and the land size is 800mt.Which costs you around $2000,000 =800 pounds.
W.Sydney is 45 min on the slow train or 20 min on the express from the centre of sydney. The blue mountains are the same the other way.
My husband and son drive every day and it is very easy on the m4.
Queensland is very humid and down to personal choice.Good luck in the move and we are happy to help if we can.
Regards Jen.
Sorry to steal post! Hi Liz and Paul, just wondering about Gold Coast is it quieter than living say a Brisbane Suburb? And was wondering if effected by tourism? Appreciate it! Bernie

Sorry I don't really have any knowledge of Brisbane's suburbs I've only been to the city centre a couple of times, I would imagine its more built up, the Gold Coast is made up of lots of small towns fairly close together that don't go probably more than 15 miles inland, as the mountains/hinterland then start.
Maybe someone else from the suburbs can post and help you out a bit!

thanks alot for the information hopefully it will come in handy, just looked into google earth. its really interesting as it gives you a birds eye view of everything any where in the world, you can search for individual town via either names or postcode. so thanks again i will enter the town names in and see how it looks .

Hiya Bernie,,some of the gold coast is as busier as the city suburbs, especially around schoolies week when all the kids leave school and the ritual is to hit the gold coast beaches and get pi88ed for a week.Robina ,Coomera etc shouldnt really be affected by this other than maybe a bit extra traffic.
We stayed in Chapel Hill in the city for a while and alothough nice and green was a nightmare with traffic whenever you wanted to go out,if you dont want hussle and bussle id come out of the city a few km's.hope this helps a bit
