Grateful for queensland advice

I am a paramedic currently going through an application to join the Queensland ambulance service. The question is as to the most suitable part of queensland to move to. I have a wife and six year old son. We certainly want to live either at a seaside town or a short drive from the sea but I would also like to buy a house with a small peice of land as we have always kept some animals in England. I think south Queensland will be best for us with a more forgiving climate and we would like to live in a friendly area that is not too touristy. I would be very grateful for any advice from any of you with a good knowledge of the area. Thanks.

Hi there
I used to live in Currumbin which is right down the bottom of the Gold COast. Beautiful beaches, great schools, parks, family area and close( bout 30 mins) to Surfers Paradise which has the hussle and bustle, and aso only 45 mins away from the theme parks Movieworld, Wet n Wild, Seaworld and Dreamworld which are all FAB!!!! Have a look at the Gold Coast Bulletin online which is the local newspaper.
Hope this helps if you need any more info give me a buzz. Good luck with your application :) Kellie xx

Hiya ,are you told where you will be posted or os it your choice? ,like you we wanted a bit of land but because of the kids didnt want to be too far from anything,we settled here in Jimboomba,,acerage is still reasonable money ,schools and shops within 5 min, hubby works at southport on the gold coast and it takes about 40mins to commute. The city is about 45min drive (but never need to go),,have a look at Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and use postcode 4280 for a search,it will give you a guide to property and rental prices,,good luck

Given your profession you have the possibility of finding most if not all on your wish list. To meet that kind of wish list unless you're really loaded is going to be tough within the metro surrounds. The problem may be that every other Ambo in Qld is looking for that posting. :)
I'm not in you area of work but having lived in rural (non coastal) regions for a while I would say take care not to accept one of the regional postings that no-one else wants (this kind of advice applies to teachers etc too). Do your homework carefully but "Seachanges" are there to be found for those in your type of work without too much loss of security and income. :)

If you can swing it go to the Sunshine coast or the gold coast, Brisbane seems a bit anal wrt QAS.

Don't rule out the climate up here in the far north, it's not that bad, infact it's rather good IMO
