After the long wait from over X-mas (felt like a lifetime) I've finally got a reply back from the Sunshine coast Tafe, offering me a place... Praise be!! lol
Since then I have been checking out area's & have noticed that Malooloolaba or Maroochydore seem to be right up there. I know I can find out about both places on the net, but I would like to hear opinions (good or bad) about them.
As I'll be coming over as a singleton lol... I need to be finding out about renting/house share & work part time. Maybe bar work to meet folk.
i agree they are right with the best places i've ever seen................we stayed on the caravan pks at both places and i was taken away with the beauty and the beaches, the picnic areas where left so clean..........i liked the nightlife too in mooloolaba, my ideal place probably but you pay a premium for it....................i too liked dicky beach at calaundra and also peregian beach was also beautiful, I started at nambour my first night and absolutely hated the place, but when you get near the coast it gets so much better. Did you travel down to the gold coast at all, because the i found the two places completely different.

How long did you wait for your offer from TAFE, I am about to apply, doing it on my day off on Friday, and was wondering how long it would actually take. Did you apply online or print and post.
Anyway back to your post, my friend, who is australian, has lived in loads of places in Queensland and has settled in Maroochydore she thinks it is fantastic, she reckons that Maroochydore and Moolobala are pretty much the same.
Hi, We spent a day at Mooloolaba (if thats spelt right!), and I thought it was lovely. Went to the Surf Club too and had a lovely meal over looking the beach!
Looked on the real estate but it looks expensive to buy property there.
Hi Joe
We've been to Maroochydore and loved it there. Would find it quite hard to find anything that didn't suit us. The Gold Coast it is not, which again was to our liking. Much more laid back. The only thing that bothers us is the way the house prices there have risen from when we last visited. We're hoping to settle there or thereabouts.
Hope this is of some help. Like we say, it is lovely, and anybody we know who has been there says the same.
Good luck.
Eddie and Tina
It has made me feel more at ease knowing that I'm going to a lovely area.
Just out of interest, do you bump into a lot of ex-pats when out & about?.. Like I mentioned before I'll be coming out on my own so it would always be good to hear the familiar accents lol.... (not that I'm scared) lol
Hi Joe, i joined today when i read your post.
Can you tell me when you say the sunshine coast TAFE accepted you, is that as a student or as a lecturer.
The reason i ask is i'am considering migrating and would like to continue lecturing in electrical intallation.
Hi
I have just finally sorted a house out to rent in Maroochydore. I think both places are very similar but it is a nightmare to rent a house in either area. IT took us around 14 applications till we got accepted as there was around 20-30 people at each viewing so be-aware. On the plus side there seems to be a few house shares in the local paper. Good luck
