Where to stay in Surfers?

Hey there!

My fiance and I are to Oz on hol (last recce) and are wanting our final week up in Brisbane lying on the beach! We are both keen surfers so surprisingly want to visit Surfers Paradise.

Can anyone recommend a nice, reasonable self catering apartment?

We stayed at the Grand Apartments in Labrador, which is quiet and more pleasant for a honeymoon. Gold Coast itself is very very busy at the moment, due to schoolies break.

How did you get from the airport to the resort? I'm thinking its about an hour away - am i right?

We stayed at Breakers North Apts just outside Surfers in June this year. It was a 15/20 min walk down the beach and the Apts were lovely.

This link is probably out of date now but it gives you an idea.
The apts were right on the beach and there was a life guard there at 8am everyday, even though it was winter!
We sat on our balcony and watched the surfers every morning.

We booked last minute through 'Rates to go' and got a good deal but it was June and out of season, cant remember what we paid though.

I work in Surfers in an appartment building which is approx $140 per night for 3* 1 bed apartment, its quite expensive (i think) to stay actually in Surfers. You could stay slightly out for cheaper and probably in a nicer area. Breadbeach isnt far and you could get into surfers in 10 mins on the bus or a nice 30/40 minutes walk (may take longer is you stop at the watering hoels along the way) lol. For your transfer try door to door transfers Door 2 Door Airbus and Active Tours - Getting Around - Gold Coast - Queensland Holidays
they are approx $17 per person each way and provide a good service.

ps we take alot of bookings via Cyber Blue, which is an agency (and their rate is alot cheaper than published rates) not sure if the deal with job bloggs but worth googling them.

45 mins at the most from Coolangatta (spelling). Hired a car from the airport. Very, very easy drive.

We use totaltravel.com - Travel Guides, Accommodation, Maps for hotels/self catering apartments in Oz, we have stayed in Burleigh Heads a couple of times which is just south of surfers, about 15 mins on the bus. the beach is one long beach all the way up to Surfers Paradise so you can't really go wrong!
