hi there
me and my hubby have been living in Gladstone since August this year. At first it was a bit of a shock coming from a big city (manchester) but we soon got used to it! basically i have never seen a bus in the time ive been here! There are trains which take you to Brisbane or Rockhampton and the local airport which is pretty good. Rockhampton is 1 hour and a bit away and has a lot more in the way of shops.
Gladstone is a great family town the schools are really good( im told by friends) and the area has the highest population of young families due to the work opportunities in the area. There is no water shortage in this area - not like the 3 minute showers down in Brisbane.
Its great as it close to beaches and islands to explore. Theres very little traffic( well compared to what were used to). We are renting at the moment and it looks like the houses will peak in 2009- due to expansion of industries in the area so would be a great time to buy a Queenslander.
Hope this helps.....
Rachel
Thanks Rachel,
It seems to have a lot going for it.
We will probably spend a week in the area when we come over in February to take a look at the place.
Thanks for your help.
Gary
dannyboy How True . The only thing going for it is all the choice of schools. I first went to Rockhampton 18 years ago left and went back, son at uni there (why he chose that I don't know) just spent another 2 years there, can't stand the place. Crime and vandalism is really bad. Only the other hand I have just put a house up for sale huge queenslander lol. Sorry couldn't resist
