This isn't a suburb that is mentioned on PIO at all, but I have had a mixed bag of reactions from people I've spoken to in Brisbane. I've had everything from "Yes it's superb", to "Avoid like the plague".
Any of you already over there have any strong opinions? I've had a drive round the suburb, and as much as you can tell from half an hour looking from the driver's seat it looks ok.

Cant help much as not heard loads about this area ,but it is supposed a pretty good suburb with some quality houses. Its next to Mt Gravatt and upper Mt gravatt which are good buisness areas and could be ideal for work, try seraching the net for upper mount gravatt and see if it will give you any info on Wishart, hope this helps a little
Cal,
Thanks for the reply, though I'm still struggling to find anything meaningful on the place. As I'm working in Rocklea, Wishart is perfect for a (comparatively) short drive to work. I've been told that Mount Gravatt and Upper Mount Gravatt are good areas, so Wishart should not be too bad as it's right next door, but I was just a little worried because one of the very negative opinions was from a real estate agent.
The "Statistical Portrait of Brisbane" site tells me that Wishart is full of well paid professionals, so it should be better than average, but I can't understand why it can elicit such extremes in opinions.
Any further opinions or advice gratefully recieved!

Personally i wouldnt fancy living in Mt gravatt areas ,my employers office is there and although ive only been to the area a few times it was very built up and busy and because of the uni seemed to have lots of students living there. How far are you wanting to commute? its hard cause its all pretty built up and industrial around Rocklea? Have you had a look at the our brisbane website or the where2live site/book ,they are good to help you at choosing suburbs,
Cal x
An ideal journey would be less than 40 mins. I've also been looking at some of the Western suburbs: Kenmore, Mt Ommaney, Chapel Hill - I don't really want to go north of the city, or as far out as the Bayside suburbs.
Rocklea itself is really not an area I want to be in, and the areas close by such as Moorooka look less than perfect, so it'll be a drive to work no matter what.
I'll have a look at the where2live siteand see where we go from there

Well if you want to be close to Rocklea. Have you considered Chelmer, Graceville, Sherwood, Corinda or Oxley?
If you can afford Kenmore then any of these suburbs are probably OK for you except maybe riverside Chelmer? But, then your prospective neighbours probably wouldn't want someone living next to them who works.
If an Estate Agent tells you an area isn't good it may just be that they don't have houses in that area presently - thats just business.
The Estate Agent's opinion was based on trouble in schools rather than houses, that was what worried me so much!
I think out of the 5 you mention, 4 are definitely beyond my means based on what's on realestate and domain at the moment. Oxley looks worth a go though, I'll have to have a drive round there when I get back early next week.
Thanks
Dave
Hi Dave - wishart is a good area to live - 20mins from city -- rent /from $350 Upwards ,no problem at $400 that would get you closer to the city, Mt Gravatt is expanding very quickly. I live at Mt Gravatt.
If i was buying i would buy near Garden City .
