Have you looked at the info websites such as Where2live.com and Ourbrisbane.com ? these may give you a good idea of where to or where not to go.You can also look on Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au for property ,the prices in some areas may be too steep so is another way of narrowing areas down. Also check out jobs on sites such as SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site or AllJobs.com.au - Search for Jobs in Australia and see where your trade's seem most in demand.Sitting down together and writing a list of what you all want can help,,how far to travel to work?to a beach?to the city?to schools?shops?,acerage or built up areas? it really helps narrow suburbs down but it wont ever be an easy task as theres just to many beautiful places in Queensland.

Hi, here's another site to try, it will give you info on the schools.
The Australian Schools Directory – The only online guide to all Australian Schools

I think there is so much to decide on, and all the citys are so different. I also use google earth to chcek where suburbs etc are, and also timing to get from one place to another. I've never been and we arent going out for a reckie until we have started the visa process, but with the help from guys on here and all the sites they recommend, ive narrowed it down to Perth or Brisbane so we'll do 10 days ish in both to try and get a feel of them!
      good luck!!

Hi thats exactly the same as us , we narrowed it down to Perth and Brisbane aswell, though i have a cousin in perth so we are wondering if we should head there if for no other reason than to have a familiar face?? everywhere seems so fantastic were thinking off taking a tent and just sleeping on beaches if we dont decide soon!! x

A familar face is always nice in an unfamilar country, but settle where you like the most, you'll be making new friends!
My OH wants to head to Perth for the same reason, lots of old friends from when he was out there before, but i really like the look of the sunshine coast. We will head out and not make any definite plans until we have seen both! then we'll move to the sunshine coast!! hehe
good luck camping!!! watch out for the spiders!!

Hi, I'm new here,I'm in my final year of nurse training and then we'll be straight over to Oz, my husband's a plasterer so he shouldn't struggle to find work, we have a daughter who's nearly 7, she can't wait to be able to go to the beach every day! We have never been to Australia (our friends and family think we're mad) and are worried about finding the right place, We have narrowed it down to somewhere along the east coast between adelaide and the sunshine coast. Can anyone recommend some where? we are looking for somewhere that is out of the city but not out of civilisation, within 20 minutes of a beach, good for families, good schools, not too hot in summer or cold in winter (Don't want much do I !) HELP !

I would say do heaps of research, there's loads of information about suburbs, but if you are interested in Brisbane try this link: ourbrisbane.com

It's a good easy use site with tons of info. Hope this helps.

I live on the Sunshine Coast. It is a very beautiful place to live and I think I'm really lucky. It's becoming very popular with Brits now. I would recommend it to everyone. However, property prices here have got rather silly lately and this is a real concern to all. Sometimes I think we live in an 'exclusive' area just because of the cost of housing. Noosa is outrageous, in more sense than one.

We didn't chose Perth because we had family on the otherside and we didn't want to be amongst lots of British people. That sound's awful, and I don't mean it in an awful sense, but I think when you come to another country you should embrace that country as a whole and try to experience it through its culture and its people and not isolate yourself from everything else.

Brisbane is a very nice and an easy going city. It's easy to drive around and apart from some scruffy areas is now much better than I ever remember it being. The people are proud of it too. With reference to ourbrisbane.com I would say that a lot of the information relating to suburbs and house pricing is out of date. Some of it by more than 5 years and that's fairly useless information then.

If you would like the Sunshine Coast schools league table visit Koala Konnection and get the statistics sent to you in pdf form via our auto download system.

      Good luck,

      Paul
