first contact
hello again
how long does it take roughly for an agency to lodge your application then to getting word from the ozzies that they want to let you in.just curious, i know that it will depend on each persons situation, thought there might a general time scale.

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but there isn't really a time scale. Each visa is different, i am going for a 136 modl skilled visa and we started (the tra) process March 2006, and our meds have only just been booked, after being requested for by a c/o on September 3rd & 27th.
Hope this has helped a little?
GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOURS.

So have you waited almost a year since the meds were requested by the CO?
We started Jan 07, TRA successful in May 07 and the Visa has been lodged this week. We could have knocked 3 months off that time but we're not that unhappy here that we want to be there yesterday. Hubby's job is on the MODL so we have applied and will do a recci to validate the visa (if successful) and take it from there. We do have family in Oz and I am looking forward to see what it's all about as we have never been. No1 son is very keen to go and is planning his careers move based upon living in Melbourne LOL.
BTW the current timescales for 136 visa are that apps rec'd in May are only now been acknowledged so there is a bit of a backlog.
Have you started the process yet?

Hi Scottie,
We have applied for 136, on MODL list, we submitted the TRA application in March and passed it 2 weeks later, during this time we prepared our visa application and our agent checked it through and submitted it mid May, we got our acknowledgement a couple of weeks ago and should have a Case Officer appointed in about a month hopefully, in the meantime we are going for medicals and have applied for Police clearance in the hope we will get the visa anytime from end Of October, the waiting lists can be found on the DIMIA website as it depends what visa you are applying for. But our experience has shown us to keep on the ball with everything as the process can be long drawn out if you don't keep up with everything your end, we wished we'd have booked our medicals earlier, but hope this won't delay the process too much!!

Arrived on the Gold Coast 1st Jan 08 and love it!

No,we haven't waited 12 mths for a c/o.
The tra was submitted in Jan 06 and by Feb 06 we were accepted as a skill, then although i have had a trade for 20 yrs i have been out of it to raise family for 5 yrs, and so i had to be back in my trade for 12 mths until i could apply for the 136 visa which was March 7th 07, and so our agent had to wait a while to submitt, but we filled in the visa and got all the paper work needed so we didn't wait to long.. But we only heard from a c/o on 2nd Aug 07.. We had no acknowledgement like most of you guys, so we were worried that they hadn't got the visa as it had been 4 mths.
